The distributions of electric field and electron density during a positive streamer development. Results of 2D simulation using the adaptive mesh refinement techniques. The simulated density of N2(A3Σu+) metastables in uniform discharge in pure N2 at the maximum of current. The maximum density grows up to 2.1013 cm-3 near anode (top electrode). Results of 2D fluid modeling of discharge coupled with gas flow (white arrow).
